WXPN’s Record Store Day 2012 Weekend Tour with Cheers Elephant

Kick-off this year’s Record Store Day celebrations with a special WXPN Free at Noon live concert broadcast with Philly’s own Cheers Elephant.

Mid-day host Helen Leicht will be broadcasting from 10 am – 2 pm from the Downstairs lobby of World Cafe Live. And joining the festivities that day will be XPN’s good friends Main Street Music (Manayunk), Siren Records (Doylestown), and Repo Records (Center City).

The shops will each be selling a selection of hard-to-find/one-of-a-kind CDs, vinyl, merchandise and more from your favorite WXPN artists… the stuff you can only find in your locally owned independent record stores. And WXPN and World Cafe Live will have some goodies available for purchase too.

Doors open early at 10 am and we’ll stay open until 2 pm… so come early or stay late, bring a few extra bucks to support your local record stores, and be sure to say hello to Helen Leicht as you shop!

WXPN hits the road with our pals Cheers Elephant for “pop-up concert tour” on Record Store Day itself where we’ll be making the following stops:

• 10:45am – Repo Records, 538 South Street, Philadelphia PA 19147 (Center City)
•   1:00pm – Main Street Music, 4444 Main Street, Philadelphia PA 19127 (Manayunk)
•  3:15pm – Siren Records, 25 East State Street, Doylestown PA 18901

Cheers Elephant will be doing a short performance at each stop, signing merch, and celebrating our local record stores along with WXPN!

And each shop will be carrying a wide selection of Record Store Day 2012 limited-edition releases… things you can only get that day. So make a list and don’t miss out: recordstoreday.com/SpecialReleases

Also, Philly’s fantastic Bands in the Backyard website asked to come along to capture all of the festivities that day, and we said HECK YES. So we’re officially a “musical caravan.”
